United Nations Day Transcribe-a-thon

United Nations Day Transcribe-a-thon

Presented by Sandy Spring Museum at Sandy Spring Museum

Explore the history of Sandy Spring through transcription! Transcribe original archival documents, helping to make these fascinating and important artifacts searchable and accessible to all.
For the October transcribe-a-thon, we are honoring United Nations Day by featuring essays and works by local historical figure Allan Farquhar (1853-1944), a prolific writer and an advocate for global peace. On the day of the event, the Museum’s Transcription Coordinator will be available via Zoom to answer your questions and help you through the transcription process. You do not have to stay for the entire two hours in each session or arrive at the start.  Feel free to drop in and work for as long as you like.
This opportunity is appropriate for ages 13 and up.  Many documents require the ability to read and transcribe cursive.  SSL hours are available.
For accommodation requests, please contact the museum via email or at 301-774-0022.
