This is a long-time favorite Christmas opera by G.C. Menotti; staged in costumes and accompanied on piano, in English.
Bel Cantanti Opera, a small opera company based in Bethesda, is performing Amahl and the Night Visitors. Amahl is a longtime favorite Christmas opera about a disabled, indigent boy, Amahl, meeting the Three Kings on their way to see the newborn Jesus on the first Christmas Eve. It is an hour long touching story, performed in English, in costume, with dance and chorus, accompanied by a piano. The show would appeal to many adults and children alike. Five different days in five different venues: December, in DC (the 10th), Bethesda (the 18th) , Rockville (the 30th) and Gaithersburg (the 11th and 17th)
