WondeRoom: Family Paper Portraits

WondeRoom: Family Paper Portraits

Presented by Sandy Spring Museum at Sandy Spring Museum

In this workshop, children and their adult companions will create their own unique family portrait using basic tracing and cutting techniques. Family portraits can take all different shapes and sizes. They can even include pets! Led by artist Janelle Washington, you can choose to paint or draw a colorful background that represents what family means to you.

Each participant should bring a side 8 x 10 profile copy of a photo of themselves or a family member. We will use your photo to trace and cut a silhouette. If you do not have a side 8 x 10 profile, please bring a printed, side profile photo of yourself or a family member, which we will help you to resize. The workshop begins with a brief history of paper cutting, silhouettes, and a demonstration of techniques used for paper cutting.

Attendance is limited so reserve your spot early.
