DESCRIPTION:

Your written proposal is likely your first shot at impressing a commissioning editor or funder so it\'s important to craft a proposal that demands attention. Using real-world examples, students will learn about the various elements of a documentary proposal, how to craft a proposal that stands out amongst the crowd, and practice creating these elements as it relates to a project of their own.

Docs In Progress is located on the ground level of the Alexander House. The entrance of Docs In Progress is on Apple Ave. Parking garage, walking distance: Cameron Street Garage. Free parking on weekends. Metro Station Red Line: Silver Spring (walking distance 5-7 minutes).

TEACHING ARTIST: Justin Reifert

Justin Reifert is a filmmaker, producer, and educator. His latest documentary short, Never Again Para Nadie, has screened at IFFBoston, the United Nations Association Film Festival, and the Woodstock Film Festival, among many others. It won Best Social Justice Film at the Big Muddy Film Festival, Best Documentary Short at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival, as well as the Jury Award for Documentary Short at the Anchorage International Film Festival.

FEES

Early registration: $65 (ends on April 6)

General admission: $75 (ends on April 15)

Late registration: $85 (ends on April 18, 3pm)

REFUND POLICY

If your circumstances change and you must withdraw from a class after registering, please be aware of our refund policy:

Withdrawal 30 or more calendar days before the first day of a program: 75% refund

Withdrawal 11-29 calendar days before the first day of a program: 50% refund

Withdrawal 10 or fewer calendar days before a program: No refund

Parking Info

Our entrance is on Apple Ave. around the corner from Alexander House.

The Cameron Street garage is open 24/7 and requires payment between 7 am - 7 pm on weekdays ($1 per hour for the first four hours and 65 cents per hour for each additional hour). Parking in the garage is free on weekends, federal holidays, and after 7 pm on weekdays. You must remember your space number and pay at one of the pay stations with cash, credit card, or the ParkMobile or MobileNow apps.

You can also sometimes find nearby metered street parking as well. While street spaces are usually free after 6 pm, they do require payment during the daytime Mondays-Saturdays and most are limited to one or two hours. Meters accept coins or the Parkmobile and MobileNow apps.

Do NOT park (or even stand) in any spots marked for police only.
