Learn to take better quality images for behind-the-scenes production needs or images that might play a role in your many documentary filmmaking roles.
Take your DSLR, or fancy mirrorless camera out of automatic mode and AF and adjust to different outdoor or indoor situations. Make sure to bring in your fastest lens with the lowest f-stop anywhere between 16-85mm focal lengths and detachable flashes if you have them.

ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST
Marilyn Stone
Marilyn Stone is the Visual Media & Imaging Specialist at the Montgomery County Department of Parks in Silver Spring, Maryland. She earned a Master ofArts degree in Film & Media Production from American University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University. Marilyn’s academic and professional background includes eight years of collective experience in both documentary video production and photography with a focus on reconnecting viewers with nature and science through media. Her production and editing experience has allowed her to work locally with production teams and abroad as a run-and-gun filmmaker on a variety of collaborations for visual storytelling.

If your circumstances change and you must withdraw from a class after registering, please be aware of our refund policy:
Withdrawal 30 or more calendar days before the first day of a program: 75% refund
Withdrawal 11-29 calendar days before the first day of a program: 50% refund
Withdrawal 10 or fewer calendar days before a program: No refund

Our entrance is on Apple Ave. around the corner from Alexander House.
The Cameron Street garage is open 24/7 and requires payment between 7 am - 7 pm on weekdays ($1 per hour for the first four hours and 65 cents per hour for each additional hour). Parking in the garage is free on weekends, federal holidays, and after 7 pm on weekdays. You must remember your space number and pay at one of the pay stations with cash, credit card, or the ParkMobile or MobileNow apps.
You can also sometimes find nearby metered street parking as well. While street spaces are usually free after 6 pm, they do require payment during the daytime Mondays-Saturdays and most are limited to one or two hours. Meters accept coins or the Parkmobile and MobileNow apps.
