WondeRoom: Indian Woodblock Printing

Presented by Sandy Spring Museum at Sandy Spring Museum

Master artist Trisha Gupta will provide an overview of the tradition, give insights into the tradition’s design elements, and will help you to print a set of cards in the Indian wood block style. At the end of the workshop, you will walk away with a set of collage cards, ready to share with family and friends.

Trisha Gupta is an interdisciplinary artist. She learned the Indian wood block printing tradition through her Rajastani heritage. She has conducted workshops on the tradition at the Elizabeth Blackburn Printmaking Foundation, Weave a Real Peace (WARP), the George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum, and at the other venues throughout the Mid-Atlantic. In 2020, she was awarded a Folklife Apprenticeship from the Maryland State Arts Council.

The WondeRoom is a dedicated space for with experiential, hands-on, family-friendly activities that inspire creativity through design based problem solving challenges. Activities in the WondeRoom are intergenerational, intercultural and require children and their grown-ups to work together.
