WondeRoom: Indian Block Printing Stamps

WondeRoom: Indian Block Printing Stamps

Presented by Sandy Spring Museum at Sandy Spring Museum

Master artist Trisha Gupta will guide you through creating your own Rajastani wood block using motifs from nature. During the workshop, participants will design and create their own stamp to print. The stamp can be used on fabric or paper, and is perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Trisha Gupta is an interdisciplinary artist. She learned the Indian wood block printing tradition through her Rajastani heritage. She has conducted workshops on the tradition at the Elizabeth Blackburn Printmaking Foundation, Weave a Real Peace (WARP), the George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum, and at the other venues throughout the Mid-Atlantic. In 2020, she was awarded a Folklife Apprenticeship from the Maryland State Arts Council.

The WondeRoom is a dedicated space for with experiential, hands-on, family-friendly activities that inspire creativity through design based problem solving challenges. Activities in the WondeRoom are intergenerational, intercultural and require children and their grown-ups to work together.
