TANYA ANISIMOVA: Celebrating Bach

TANYA ANISIMOVA: Celebrating Bach

Presented by Arts Barn at Arts Barn

J.S. Bach is widely considered the final representative and the pinnacle of the Baroque Era. He wasn't a celebrity during his lifetime, yet his music not only survived him but has become a source of inspiration and education for many people. Bach’s music continues to influence musicians, as well as philosophers, scientists, scholars, film directors, choreographers, artists, and many who have encountered his music. Enjoy masterpieces by J.S. Bach and understand his music on a deeper level through works by Marin Marais, Jean de Sainte-Colombe, Antonio Vivaldi, and Tomaso Albinoni.

Tanya Anisimova is a Renaissance woman: a cello virtuoso, an award-winning composer, a master improvisor, and a painter. Tanya shares music of J. S. Bach revealing her deep passion for Bach’s music with her unique interpretations. She is the only cellist who has recorded the complete Six Violin Sonatas and Partitas by J.S. Bach on the cello. Tanya is known for her emotionally empowered, moving performances, as well as for her engaging discussions about the pieces she performs. Her recitals are often followed by standing ovations and are frequently sold out.

"Your recordings display high-class cello playing, a strong, inventive musical mind, and, thank God, Bach provides heavenly material..." Janos Starker, 2001

The Washington Post has described Anisimova as a “thoughtful and powerful” artist, providing “exceptional music-making” and possessing “spiritual authority”, as well as a composer of “deeply emotional” and “subtly mystical” music.
