Comedy for Peace is an incredible comedy show with Muslim and Jewish comedians, founded in March of 2019 in New York City. The show contains a line-up of performers who bring different perspectives from their life experiences in the most unique and hilarious way.

The first goal of Comedy for Peace is to show everyone that we can very easily collaborate, share the stage, have fun, and laugh at ourselves, without any politics involved. Comedy For Peace is an accessible, funny, fun, and meaningful show that brings diverse, Interfaith communities together with the belief that we can make a difference through the art of comedy.

Talent Bios

Liz Glazer is an award-winning standup comedian, actor, and writer. Liz won first place in the Boston Comedy Festival and Ladies of Laughter Competition, has been featured in a full article in the Wall Street Journal (as well as Above the LawLex Magazine, the Pennsylvania Gazette, and other publications), and has opened for Myq Kaplan and Maria Bamford. Liz was also a part of the Seattle International Comedy Competition and will be a part of the upcoming HBO Women in Comedy Festival. As an actor, Liz has appeared on ABC's FOR LIFE and CBS's BULL, and is on the faculty at Lesly Kahn & Co., the Los Angeles acting studio. Liz is also writing a television pilot about her life, a draft of which was a semi-finalist in the Stage 32 writing competition. Liz began her career as most standup comedians do: as a tenured law professor. THEN, Liz gave it all up to do comedy, where her material draws from her own life as a lesbian, a rabbi's wife, and a former lawyer. These days Liz performs regularly at comedy clubs and festivals. Liz also does private events for law schools, law firms, synagogues, and major corporations. While Liz loves performing live in person, she's equally comfortable yelling into her laptop on Zoom as she did nightly during the pandemic.

Gibran Saleem is a stand-up comedian that has been featured on Better Things on FX, MTV, TBS, AXS TV, Comedy Central and the Tamron Hall Show on ABC. Gibran was born in North Carolina, but began comedy in New York City while pursuing a graduate degree in Psychology at NYU. Since then, Gibran was selected as a finalist for NBC’s Stand-Up competition as well as part of NBC’s Late Night Writer’s Workshop. He was the focus of an international documentary series on NHK TV called Asian Dreamers: Brown is Funny and recently toured with Hasan Minhaj during his latest Netflix special. Gibran performs nationally as well as internationally, including a tour performing for the troops in Korea and Japan. Gibran was previously the host of a podcast called “Why Did I Say That?! and is in the final stages of releasing his short film, “Gibranistan”. Gibran currently resides in New York, where he performs regularly at some of the most legendary clubs in the world and is in development of a TV pilot based on his previous background helping newly released inmates’ transition back to society.

Eric Angel is an American-Israeli comedian who based in New York and traveling the world with his new special- Speaking Falafel. Angel preformed at the LA Laugh Factory, Carolines, Stand Up NY and other significant clubs in the US. He opened shows for major headliners like Maz Jobrani and Zarna Garg. He preformed in 24 cities in the US with his Comedy for Peace project, an interfaith evening with Jewish and Muslim comedians, in a tour that keep rolling, in addition to shows in Poland, Italy, Canada, Japan, Germany, Israel and few festivals. Angel’s comedy is very surprising, clever, high energy, deals with being a recent immigrant, fortyish, a newlywed, that discovered he's Jewish and speaks English-Falafel 24/7. He has been seen on NBC, have more than 2M views in Tik-Tok and more than 8,000 followers.

Usama Siddiquee is a Muslim Bengali-American stand-up comedian and actor based in New York. His act is energetic and intelligent. He most recentlywas featured on the 2020 season of America’s Got Talent. He travelled to Montreal as one of the New Faces at Just for Laughs in 2018. He made his stand-uptelevision debut on BET's 50 Central. He has been featured on Showtime’s Desusand Mero, MTV’s News, and Bravo’s Cash Cab. He was a finalist for the 2017 NY'sFunniest Competition at Caroline's; a finalist in the 2017 NBC Stand-up Competition; winner of the 2016 Laughing Devil Cup Comedy Festival in New York .2022 he was a guest of, of one the “Just like that” show, the renew of sex andthe city and recently has been seen on Comedy Central.

About Improbable Comedy:
Founded by social-worker-turned-comedy-producer Kim Levone, Improbable Comedy has hosted more than 150 shows in local venues around the DMV. The goal has been to transform the industry by giving the mic to hilarious comedians who have been underrepresented on stage. Since our first show at Vicino's restaurant in 2012, we have brought big laughs to theatres, bars, swanky clubs, and people's homes. We now have regular shows at Busboys & Poets and the Arts Barn as well as bigger events with the Montgomery Parks Department and at the Silver Spring Black Box Theatre.
