Dreams of Earth Renewal by Neha Misra highlights the role of immigrant art and cultural heritage in healing people and planet.
Sandy Spring, Maryland – Dreams of Earth Renewal highlights the role of immigrant art, climate justice, and cultural heritage in healing people and the planet by local artist, Neha Misra - will be exhibited at the Sandy Spring Museum from January 7 – April 14, 2024. Dreams of Earth Renewal showcases Misra’s original contemporary eco-folk art mix media paintings, eco-poems, and two site-specific public art installations – an indoor upcycled silk saree Earth mandala and an outdoor sacred tree grove installed on the museum grounds. This exhibition is the debut solo showcase of the artist’s vibrantly inspiring art.
Neha Misra's paintings fuse enchantment with the timeless wisdom, magic, and resilience of nature. Threads of reverence and concern for our relationship with Mother Earth run through her embodied practice. As an award-winning climate justice advocate, she uses the power of art to inspire dialogue and action that fosters the health of people and planet. Connecting the fractal connections between our micro and macro wellbeing is a thread that runs through the entire body of this exhibition.
