The Poetry Game is an interactive game that makes it easy and fun to write a poem, whether you are an experienced poet seeking a new technique to generate poetry... or you haven't written a poem in decades! The Peace Version involves weaving Yiddish and Arabic words into poems written in English. No prior knowledge of Arabic or Yiddish is required; you'll learn various resonant words during the workshop. The focus is on creativity; sharing is optional and we will not critique or judge the poems that are read. The game involves a wide variety of prompts, a supportive and encouraging environment, and an attitude of warmth, fun, and poetic camaraderie. In the process, we'll cultivate a spirit of cultural understanding, and express our common humanity and yearning for justice and peace. People of all cultural backgrounds are welcome.
