The Self-Publication Experiment--There has been so much hype about the pros and cons of self-published books (also called, independently published) in recent years that both new and experienced authors find it confusing. What is the difference between traditional publishing with a known New York house, working with a small press, and self-publication. Is doing it yourself expensive? Time consuming? More or less satisfying emotionally or financially? And what about publicity? Instructor Kathryn Johnson, although traditionally published for over 20 years, has also gone the small-press route and recently decided to self-publish a new fiction series in 2014 to help her answer these questions for her students as well as for herself.
