Uke Strum-Along: A Celebration of Make Music Day

Uke Strum-Along: A Celebration of Make Music Day

Presented by Carpe Diem Arts at Takoma Park Gazebo

Make Music Day is a global celebration of music that takes place each year on June 21st.  Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held in more than 700 cities in 120 countries. This year Make Music Day is making its debut in Washington, DC.

In celebration of Make Music Day, Carpe Diem! Ukes on the Move! is hosting a lunchtime Uke Strum-Along and Sing-Along at the Old Town Gazebo in Takoma Park.

We’ll be joined onstage by many of our Ukes on the Move! teaching artists and friends including Maureen Andary (The Sweater Set), Eme Awa (DC Highlife Stars, Eme & Heteru), Suzanne Brindamour, Liz Brinker (Music Together), Wendy Lanxner (Wendy and the Lost Boys), Heidi Martin, Marika Partridge & the Coinkidinks, Michael Shereikis (DC Highlife Stars and Chopteeth), and the UkeBeats from ACE Academy (student performers).

There will be songs for uke players of all ability levels and much fun to be had by all.  So bring your ukulele and come make music with us!
