Celebrate 150th anniversary of Maryland Emancipation Day at Button Farm, Maryland’s only living history center depicting plantation life of the enslaved in the 1800s and the story of the Underground Railroad.
Bring a picnic and hear emancipation histories and storytelling, enjoy children’s games (offered by Boyds Negro School), butter churning (King Barn Dairy MOOseum), music, hands-on crafts, sack races, horseshoes, corn hole and more! An African American genealogist will offer tips and recommend resources for families researching their past.
