FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Best Medicine Rep, Gaithersburg’s professional theater company, is excited to close out season 3 with a romantic comedy: The Fifth Date, running April 3 through May 3, 2020.  Written by Lori Boyd and directed by Lynn Sharp Spears, the play will run for sixteen performances in Best Medicine Rep’s theater space at the Lakeforest Mall.

The Fifth Date is an adorable look at two insecure, “pre-middle-aged” people who are looking for love.  But can they overcome their inner selves to find it?

“I’m really happy to be working with this cast and director,” says author Lori Boyd, “The joy that they’re bringing to what is, essentially, the most hilariously horrible date ever is fantastic.  I think our audience is going to love it.”

Lori Boyd is very familiar to Best Medicine Rep regulars, having co-authored and starred in The Crater Sisters’ Christmas Special and appeared in our production of The Consul, The Tramp, and America’s Sweetheart.  When she is not working at Best Med, Ms. Boyd performs as part of The Fabulous Pin-Curl Girls with Radio King Orchestra.

Director Lynn Sharp Spears has been developing the script with Ms. Boyd for nearly a year.  “It’s fun,” she says, “Lori has done a terrific job making us laugh at the characters’ foibles while keeping them grounded and human.”  Ms. Sharp Spears is a seasoned professional performer, director, teacher and designer who has collaborated with The Kennedy Center, The National Theater, Studio Theater, Source Theater, Washington Shakespeare Company, Atlas Theater, Olney Theater, Toby’s, Networks and Troika National Touring Companies. Her film and television work in Production Design, and Casting include; The Learning Channel, Discovery, National Geographic, The History Channel and more.

Starring in the production are Rebecca Ellis and Colbourne Lewis, along with Best Med favorites Rebecca A. Herron and Terence Heffernan.

The production runs April 3 through May 3, 2020, with evening performances Friday & Saturday at 7pm and matinees on Saturday & Sunday at 2:30pm.  There will be no performances the week of May 10th.

Tickets for The Fifth Date are on sale now.  They are available through Best Medicine Rep’s website:  bestmedicinerep.org.
