Rockville, Maryland, Sept. 22 — Local artist Suzanne Firstenberg has brought her installations “Unforgotten” (created with art therapist Sheila Berman) to Rockville City Hall and “Eyes” to Rockville Town Square. Both speak to the struggle of opioid addiction in the community.

The artwork is featured as part of September’s National Recovery Month and the Rockville Goes Purple initiative that aims to shine a spotlight on the impact of opioid addiction and educate the community about the epidemic.

The theme of this year’s Rockville Goes Purple campaign is “Opioids: Let’s Talk About It,” which encourages dialogue about, and openness around, the problems of opioid addiction, and seeks to create awareness about the dangers of stigmatizing addiction.
