The Main Street Takoma district has received an Art in Bloom Sculpture from the National Cherry Blossom Festival to celebrate visual arts and the spirit of spring, according to an email from Laura Barclay of the Old Takoma Business Association.

The sculpture, called CELEBRATION, is shaped like a giant cherry blossom seat and was created by artist Sandra Perez-Ramos as part of the 2021 National Cherry Blossom Festival’s Art in Bloom project.

Main Street Takoma will be hosting an official unveiling of the sculpture on Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at the sculpture’s location, 6902 4th Street, NW in the Old Takoma neighborhood (in front of The Spice Suite). The artist will also be in attendance.

According to the National Cherry Blossom Festival website, Art in Bloom, presented by Amazon, “celebrates the magical and whimsical mystique of the D.C. area, while honoring its vibrant arts scene.
