November 1, 2021 (Bethesda, MD) – Gallery B is pleased to announce its latest exhibit, “Water,” a solo show by Megan Elizabeth, opening Thursday, November 11, 2021. Megan’s paintings will be on display at Gallery B, located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E, Bethesda, MD, through December 5, 2021. Gallery hours are Thursday – Sunday, 12-5pm. Additionally, Megan will hold an opening reception on Thursday, November 11, 6-8pm.

Megan’s creative process is fluid and organic, much like the content she explores. Reflections of light on water, shadows created by trees, fallen leaves, petals on contrasting surfaces, these are just some of nature’s fleeting moments that she aims to capture in her paintings. Focusing on the effects of dappled light, contrasting shadows and overlapping textures, she uses many layers of colorful paint and unique textures to highlight and appreciate the power of nature.

Megan works on multiple paintings simultaneously and articulates nature through loose, expressive brush strokes. The acrylic paint is applied directly to the canvas, without any underpainting or sketch below, and blended into many layers by adding white to create tonal variations of color. These layers create the effect of movement, light and texture.

In addition to regular Gallery B hours and the opening reception, “Water” will be open for the Bethesda Art Walk on Friday, November 12, 6-8pm. The Bethesda Art Walk is a wonderful opportunity for patrons to explore Downtown Bethesda’s art galleries and studios, meet talented, local artists and view original artwork. A fun evening for art-lovers and visitors looking for a unique night out on the town, the galleries and studios feature painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media and more.
