BlackRock Center for the Arts, providing opportunities to explore, celebrate and engage in the arts, invites you to celebrate Hip Hop History Month in November with BlackRock’s crew in Germantown. From Ladies of Hip Hop Drag Show to Old-School Hip Hop Party with DJ OSO Fresh to a CityDance Master Class in Hip Hop, we are celebrating one of the most popular American artforms that has influenced culture worldwide.

Says Kelly Chauncey, Artistic Director of BlackRock Center for the Arts, “Growing up in the 80’s & 90’s Artists like Poor Righteous Teachers, A Tribe Called Quest, MC Lyte , Queen Latifah, Doug E. Fresh, Eric B and Rakim set the standard for what Hip Hop was and became. Its Impact & influence in our Communities, our Corporate Board Rooms, National Marketing Campaigns is undeniable. Hip Hop was born in the streets, now the world is its stage. BlackRock is shining a huge spotlight on Hip- Hop’s Galvanizing roots while celebrating Old Skool and Current influence in our communities and in our world, Join Us As We ‘BlackRock The Bells’ this November.”

In 2021, Hip Hop History Month was officially passed on August 11, recognizing the contributions of Hip Hop to culture, arts, and community.

CITYDANCE HIP HOP MASTER CLASS AT BLACKROCK FOR ALL AGES 
November 10, 2022, from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.
CityDance returns to the BlackRock community to host an electric master class series starting with hip hop!
TULA’S LADIES OF HIP HOP DRAG SHOW 
November 12, 2022 at 8:00 P.M. and 11:00 P.M.
Hosted by Tula, this show features nothing but the hottest hip hop tracks and the most beautiful drag queens. Be dazzled by their gorgeous outfits and their elegant makeup as they bring drag performance to the next level.
CLUB BLACKROCK: OLD SKOOL 80’S AND 90’S HIP HOP
