VisArts is pleased to present the 11th Annual Rockville Arts Festival, Saturday-Sunday, May 6-7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., in Rockville Town Square. The Festival will be held rain or shine. Admission is free.

Throughout the weekend, VisArts will transform the streets surrounding Rockville Town Square into a vibrant outdoor gallery. Visitors can stroll the Square and enjoy one-of-a-kind art, art demonstrations by VisArts instructors, conversations with VisArts’ VisAbility Art Lab artists, artisanal fare, festival food, craft beer, and wine.

Visitors are invited to collaborate with mixed media artist and master printmaker Steve Prince, Director of Engagement and Distinguished Artist in Residence at the Muscarelle Museum of Art at William and Mary, on an art project that highlights how shared creativity leads to inclusivity. Participants will paint a puzzle piece and Prince will fit it into his design to create a unique work of art that reflects Montgomery County’s community.

“VisArts’ mission is to transform individuals through the visual arts, and the annual Rockville Arts Festival provides thousands of visitors the opportunity to view, experience, create, and take home art,” says VisArts Executive Director, Alice Nappy. “Art is essential and should be accessible to everyone. The Festival brings art to the community, and this year’s art project with Steve Prince is a celebration of creativity, connection, and inclusion.”

The diverse group of 130 artists from around the country are passionate about creating the finest art available in the U.S. today – including ceramics, drawing, fiber, glass, graphics, jewelry, metal, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, wood, and mixed media.

“The Festival offers art that appeals to casual shoppers and serious collectors,” says Festival Director, Robin Markowitz. “It’s two days of art, food, and fun – and the perfect place to find a unique gift for upcoming holidays.”

Visitors will also be able to view HEATWORK 3.0, an exhibition featuring art by VisArts’ ceramics faculty and students, and CENTERING, an exhibit of works by master ceramic artists, in VisArts’ galleries, which will be open 12-4 p.m. during the Festival.

The Festival is sponsored by the City of Rockville and Cambria Hotels & Suites. Participating vendors include True Respite Brewing Co. and Corned Beef King.
