Even though this year, the July 4 holiday falls midweek, on a Thursday, celebrations with fun activities, live entertainment and of course, fireworks are planned. Here are the details.

Montgomery Parks Germantown Glory
South Germantown Recreational Park, 18041 Central Park Circle, Boyds
Begins with a concert at 7 p.m. Fireworks scheduled to begin at about 9:15 p.m.

Parking is available on-site.

The rain date for the fireworks only is July 5. Low lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome. Food vendors will be on site. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Montgomery Parks Mid-County Sparkles
Albert Einstein High School, 11135 Newport Mill Road, Kensington
Begins with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks scheduled to begin at about 9:15 p.m. Only handicapped parking is available on-site.

The rain date for the fireworks only is July 5. Low lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome. Food vendors will be on site. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Rockville Independence Day Celebration
Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park, King Farm, 1800 Piccard Drive, Rockville
Live music by The Nighthawks (7 p.m.); Mayor and Council Greeting (8:45); National Anthem (8:55), Fireworks (9:15)

Bring a blanket or chairs. No barbecuing or open flames allowed at the event site. Recycle and trash bins are located throughout the event. Lost children should be taken to the first aid tent located along Piccard Drive. Drones are prohibited at the event site.

Free parking is available in lots along Shady Grove and Gaither roads as well as on Piccard Drive. There is no parking available in the King Farm neighborhood.

Poolesville’s Traditional 4th of July Family Fireworks
Gates to Soccer Fields at Hughes and Sugarland roads open at 5 p.m.

Live music by Back to the Beach (starts at 6 p.m.), food trucks, fireworks at about 9 p.m.

On-site parking is $5.

Rain date is 5 p.m. Friday, July 5.

Takoma Park’s 4th of July Parade & Evening Celebration
No fireworks this year.

“A City of Dreamers” July 4 Parade: Assembly of parade units (9 a.m.); Parade begins at intersection of Carroll and Ethan Allen avenues (10 a.m.)

Evening begins at  7 p.m. in front of the Takoma Park Community Center, 7500 Maple Ave. The program features live patriotic music by the Takoma Park Community Band, followed by performances by the Washington Adventist University’s Acro Airs acrobatics troupe and the band MO’Fire. Children’s activities, food trucks and vendors are planned as well.
