Agrisculpture

This mobile is designed essentially as a three-dimensional collage. The various implements, machines and plants which inspired the design have been simplified, altered and arranged to create vaguely familiar images inviting further exploration. The shapes, colors and textures represent many aspects of farming and many periods in history. The sculpture is constructed primarily of aluminum sheet metal, plastic filler, paint and wood. Each elongated, tapered form serves as a brush stroke in the total shape. The translucent green leaf-shapes of the piece are illuminated by light coming through the window above. The overall arrangement of the pieces in the mobile is a curvey, flowing organic shape, alluding to water, wind and the rolling landscape.
