Turning the Page: Children’s Book Illustrations

Turning the Page: Children’s Book Illustrations

Presented by Strathmore at The Mansion at Strathmore

“Read me a story.” These words have the power to turn children into emerging readers, and picture books are the gateway through which parents first guide them. Before they even learn their ABCs, young readers are swept up in the glory of a story when there are beautiful illustrations to light the way.

Join us as we present the work of artists who bridge written and pictorial languages, inspire our imaginations, and promote reading and language development in subtle and creative ways. In addition to illustrations, the exhibition explores book design, binding, and building in a true celebration of all things picture book.

From the Mazza Museum: Martha Alexander, Jose Aruego, Aliki Brandenberg, Clare Beaton, Marcia Brown, Christopher Canyon, Eric Carle, Dominic Catalano, Lynne Cherry, Helen Cogancherry, Barbara Cooney Tomasito, Donald Crews, Tomie dePaola, Leo and Diane Dillon, Arthur Geisert, Cheryl Harness, Kevin Hawkes, Kevin Henkes, Steven Kellogg, Maryann Kovalski, Blair Lent, Betsy Lewin, Rafael Lopez, David Macaulay, Suse MacDonald, Gerald McDermott, Wendell Minor, Kelly Oechsli, Korky Paul, Ted Rand, Robert Rayevsky, Peter Sis, Kris Waldherr, Wendy Watson, David Wisniewski, and Sharon Hawkins Vargo.
