Leave behind the desk and office to paint with words outside. In this six-week course, participants will meet three times at various locations in the D.C. area, and three times at The Writers Center. Participants will complete writing assignments inspired by their surroundings during field trips. This is a hands-on writing lab, where participants will complete writing exercises that emphasize various creative writing techniques. In-class meetings, provide an opportunity to share work inspired by our field trips and to discuss elements of fiction and creative non-fiction, such as dialogue, setting, physical description, and sensory details. Participants will leave this course with new scenes, chapters, or stories written during the session, as well as with a wealth of inspiration for their writing in general.
