The Gaithersburg Community Museum presents a program of exploration for young visitors which takes place on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to noon in July and August. Supplies are limited. Admission is free with no reservations required. Donations to cover program costs are appreciated. Recommended for ages 5 and up.
- July 11: Summer Journals. Make a journal to help keep your summer memories. You can write your thoughts, record events, draw what you see, and even tuck tickets and brochures into a back pocket.
- July 18: Animal Day. Meet the City of Gaithersburg Police Department’s K-9 Unit at 10:45. Make toys for rescue animals to send to area shelters. Meet the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County. Learn about their cat shelter and possibly meet a shelter cat. Meet Frodo the therapy dog from 11:30-12.
- July 25: Origami Creations. Have fun learning how to make origami forms.
- August 1: Making Music. Victor Litz will be here with musical instruments and possibly the ukulele. Make a musical instrument to take home.
- August 8: Playing with String. Learn the basics of knitting and crocheting. Play string games. Make string art.
- August 15: Having fun with Science. The museum will focus on science with a variety of hands-on activities for visitors to try.
