2nd Annual DiverseCity Showcase

In partnership with Lakeforest Mall, the City of Gaithersburg and its Multicultural Affairs Committee (MAC) presents the 2^nd annual DiverseCity Showcase, a community celebration of music, dance and fashion, representing some of the many world cultures that enrich our lives in Gaithersburg. Demonstrations of Chinese calligraphy and Indian henna tattoos will be featured. The MAC will also sponsor a trivia game with prizes of children’s books donated by Discover Books. It takes place on Saturday, April 14, 2018, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at Lakeforest Mall, Center Court, 701 Russell Avenue. This event is free and is suitable for all ages.

DiverseCity Showcase will also serve as the kick–off event for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read Montgomery, a joint partnership of Montgomery County Public Libraries, Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, Montgomery Community Media, the Gaithersburg Book Festival, and Montgomery History. Big Read Montgomery consists of a three-month conversation about the immigrant experience in Montgomery County through the shared reading and discussion of the book “The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears” by Dinaw Mengestu.
