Archaeology Day

Get a glimpse into the world of an archaeologist at Archaeology Day on May 6.

This free, family-friendly event is filled with hands-on activities, presentations, and live music. There will be tours of Needwood Mansion, archaeological displays, and costumed interpreters.

Do a simulated archaeological dig. Identify seeds and mend ceramics. Make clay marbles and a clay pot, and try tinsmithing and weaving. Play tug of war and join a sack race. Throw a spear with an atlatl. Construct a wikiup. See the Civil War doctor or visit with a Union soldier. Discover ways Indigenous people lived in the pre-colonial era. Check out discoveries in the archaeological displays.
