Baltimore Watercolor Society Gallery Exhibit

Gaithersburg’s Arts on the Green presents a collection of works by members of the Baltimore Watercolor Society in a juried exhibition at Kentlands Mansion. The exhibit is on display November 15, 2019 through January 13, 2020. The public is invited to meet the artists at a free Artists Reception on Wednesday, December 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Attendees are also invited to the “Life in Color” reception, featuring works by the Metro Washington Chapter of the Colored Pencil Society of America, taking place on the same day and time at the adjacent Arts Barn.

Established in 1855 by four female painters, The Baltimore Watercolor Society is one of America’s oldest watercolor organizations. Today, the Society has grown to more than 600 Associate and Signature members. Its mission is to promote professional excellence in the creation and development of original works of art executed in aqueous media. Jurying of prospective members occurs twice a year. Work by Signature members has appeared in regional, national and international juried exhibits.

This exhibit is juried by Glen Kessler, a well-known local artist and art educator. Glen is an award-winning, internationally known painter whose work is displayed in public and private collections. He has been an instructor of art in many institutions and is currently active in The Compass Atelier art school in Rockville, MD.
