Exhibit: Dress for Success – Commuters and Clothes

Area residents took the train for many reasons. Most were traveling into Washington, D.C. to work, shop, or enjoy cultural activities. Some traveled from Washington into Montgomery County to resort hotels and summer communities in Rockville, Gaithersburg, and points north. Others traveled within the county for work and school. They would have all dressed appropriately for the train and the activity. Special thanks to the Montgomery County Historical Society for the loan of clothing from their textile collection.
