Metropolitan Grove, now known to most people as the MVA, was formerly a vibrant and flourishing Black community. Founded by individuals who had previously been enslaved, it stood as a bustling hub during the initial decades of the 20th century. We cordially invite you to join us for an engaging discussion about Metropolitan Grove, featuring Arnetta Quarles and former residents linked to this historically significant community.

During our visit we attended an Open Studio session, visited the Betty Boyd Dettre Library and Research Center and saw “The Sky’s the Limit”.

We visited Alliance Comics in Downtown #SilverSpring to highlight their expansive collection of comics and graphic novels. They offer comic reservations, have a comic buyback program and even open an hour early on Wednesday for new releases. It was a pleasure visiting #AllianceComics and picking up a few $1 comics to jumpstart my collection.
