Heritage Days at Oakley Cabin African American Museum and Park – Saturday, June 24, 12-4pm.
Tour the restored log cabin, home to African American tenant families during the late 1800s. Docent led tours. Storytelling,hands-on activities and games for children of all ages.
Heritage Days at Seneca Store – Saturday, June 24, 12-4pm.
Explore the oldest continuously general store in Montgomery County. Listen to music on the porch. Learn about the milland recent archaeological discoveries. Hands-on activities for children. Food for purchase.
Heritage Days at Josiah Henson Museum and Park – Sunday, June 25, 12-4pm. Tour the Josiah Henson Museum. Learn about the extraordinary life of Rev. Josiah Henson, formerly enslaved on the Riley plantation in Montgomery County, whose autobiography inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe’s fictional novel, Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Park across the street at Wall Local Park / Kennedy-Shriver Aquatic Center, 5900 Executive Blvd.
Heritage Days at Harper Cabin – Sunday, June 25, 1-4pm.
Tour the restored, post-Civil War log cabin from an African American community of Jonesville. Explore the Harper familyhistory through hands-on activities and tours.
