Local writer Jeff Sypeck will talk about the process of collaborating on a book about the African American community of Sugarland with Gwen Reese and Suzanne Johnson, two descendants of the town’s founding families. Focusing on rare or recently discovered sources that offer glimpses of the character and personalities of the men and women who established Sugarland after emancipation, Jeff will share a preview of their forthcoming book and discuss the continuing importance of writing African American experiences back into the history of Montgomery County.
