Marc Hoffman Shadow Puppetry

Marc Hoffman Shadow Puppetry and Best Medicine Rep Theater Company present an evening of Indonesian shadow puppetry. The sons of Pandu have been exiled to the wild and dangerous Wonomarto Forest!  Don’t miss this unique, free event: Clearing the Wonomarto Forest.  One night only:  Saturday, April 2 at 7pm at Best Medicine Rep.  Admission is free. Marc Hoffman began studying Indonesian shadow puppetry at California Institute of the Arts.  He continued his studies in Indonesia at the state arts academy and at the Mangkunegaran court puppetry school in Surakarta, Central Java. He performs in English and usually presents stories from the traditional Javanese repertoire, which have their basis in Hindu epics as they have been extensively altered by centuries-long presence in Central Java.   Unlike the traditional wayang, this performance will not be 8 hours long!  Figure more on 90 minutes.
