 Mary, Most Highly Favored Lady!

 Voix de Femmes, with Suzanne Karpov, soprano and Steven Seigart, piano.   In their celebrations of the Virgin Mary, composers have shown an abiding preference for women’s voices.  Their texts vary in focus from a ‘Lowly Maiden’ and the ‘Bearer of God’, to the ‘Rose of Sharon’ and a ‘Virgin Most Pure’.   Voix de Femmes Chamber choir will present selected gems from this vast compositional treasure, including settings of Medieval Christmas Carols such as the famous ‘Ceremony of carols’ by Benjamin Britten.  Soprano Suzanne Karpov will be the soloist for this great work, and will present other solos from the Christmas repertoire, such as ‘Rejoice Greatly’ (from Handel’s Messiah), the beloved ‘Gesu Bambino’ and contemporary carols by the young and talented composer Abbie Betinis.
