Maryland Emancipation Day at Oakley Cabin African American Museum & Park

Oakley Cabin commemorates Maryland Emancipation Day with an afternoon celebration for the entire family.

Join quilting master, Mrs. Kyna Clemons in completing our “Freedom Quilt” by creating your own quilt squares, archaeological hands-on activities, hearth cooking demonstrations and guided tours.

Master storyteller, Gordon Parks presents traditional African folk tales, 2:00 – 3:30pm.

Overflow PARKING for the event: Mt. Zion Local Park, 5130 Brookeville Road, Brookville MD 20882. Free shuttle provided throughout the afternoon.
