This is a cast bronze sculpture of a lion standing on his hind legs and leaping out of an open book that is placed on two other closed books. A small mouse is perched standing on his rear legs on the PL edge of the open book. The sculpture is mounted on a concrete base with a chamfered edge that is similar to concrete bases for other bronzes in the collection and it is probably mounted to the concrete with ferrous metal pins. The Lion is on a hill at the SW corner of the Library property near Colesville Road and there is a label on the rear underside of the book stating “Property of Montgomery County” and “2400”.
