The Aware ’22 Exhibition:
Aware is a new exhibition that brings history, cultural diversity and the community together through art! Artists are invited to submit artworks that explore and celebrate Native American culture as it relates to our region.

The call is for artworks that will hang along with the community art installation, The Feather Project.

Exhibition Dates:  November 4-13, 2022

10/18 – Submission Deadline (midnight)
10/20-27 – Standards Committee Selections
10/28 – Notifications posted on home page (artcentervb.org)
11/1 – Drop Off, Tuesday 11 am – 4 pm
11/3 – Open for Visitors, Thursday 10 am
11/4 – Reception Friday 6-8 pm
Land Recognition and guest speaker
11/13 – Artists Talks, Sunday 3-4 pm
11/15 – Pick Up, Tuesday 11 am – 4 pm

Special Rules:   

  • Artwork must have a clear connection to local Native American culture
  • Priority will be given to artists of Native American heritage (whether of a local tribe or not), but all artists are welcome to submit.
  • Art does not have to be for sale (type NFS in place of a  price). 

Eligibility: 

  • Open to Local/Regional Artists aged 18 or older (must be able to drop off work in person)
  • Current original works only, not previously exhibited at Virginia Beach Art Center monthly exhibitions.
  • Up to 3 pieces may be submitted
