Learn how to draw using varying mediums from graphite, charcoal, pen and ink to colored pencils in one class through the teachings by noted artist Vian Borchert.

Esteemed artist, Vian Borchert, will be teaching a Drawing art class at Glen Echo Park via The Yellow Barn Studio. The Spring class starts in early May and is for beginners, intermediates and continuing students.

The drawing art class by noted artist Vian Borchert will be ONSITE and is in-person. The class starts on Friday May 3 and runs till June 7, 2024 for 6 sessions. The class is on Friday mornings form 9:30AM till 12PM.

Throughout the class, the students will learn the ABC’s of drawing from master artist, Borchert, who has been an art educator of over 17 years. Vian is also a “Notable Alumni” from Corcoran College of Art & Design George Washington University. Learn how to draw shapes utilizing lines and shading. Drawing mediums from graphite, Charcoal, pen and ink, and colored pencils are utilized. Demos of line marks and shading are presented. Course covers a variety of studies such as still life from fruits to flowers, birds, vases, trees and more. Designed for beginning and continuing students. Come along on this creative experience and learn the skills needed to draw like a pro.

Moreover, Vian Borchert has been invited to judge the annual high school exhibition held at the Yellow Barn Gallery. The exhibition is open to all high school students in the DMV area – DC / MD / VA. This is a great opportunity for talented high school students from the DMV area to enter for a chance to be part of this celebrated annual exhibition that showcases and awards young talented artists. Submission is by March 22.

Borchert has been an art educator for over 17 years in the DMV area. Vian teaches fine art classes in drawing and also painting at the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo Park. Borchert’s philosophy is guiding the students gradually into the art educational experience so they can discover their inner creative self through art learning.
