Learn how to paint in the fresh and translucent medium of watercolor. From brush marks to making a skilled landscape and a still-life painting, noted artist V. Borchert will guide the students in the class through demos and hands-on methods.

Acclaimed artist Vian Borchert will be teaching an ONSITE and In-person Watercolor Painting art class this Spring starting on Monday April 29 till June 10 at Glen Echo Park's Yellow Barn Studio. Acclaimed artist Vian Borchert will be teaching an ONSITE and In-person Watercolor Painting art class this Spring starting on Monday April 29 till June 10 at Glen Echo Park’s Yellow Barn Studio. The class is on Monday mornings form 9:30AM till 12PM at The Yellow Barn Studio which is located at Glen Echo Park in Glen Echo, Maryland located at: 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD 20812

The class is designed for both beginning and intermediates along with continuing students to explore traditional watercolor and experimental watercolor techniques. Color theory and composition are emphasized through images based on still life and landscapes. The Watercolor class starts on April 29 and runs for 6 sessions till June 10, 2024. Learn the ABC’s of watercolor painting from a master artist and a “Notable Alumni” from Corcoran George Washington University + art educator in the DMV area for over 17 years. In this class, you will learn about mixing colors to applying layers / glazes to create beautiful effects utilizing this fun translucent medium. Demos will be demonstrated by the instructor to help guide the students along this learning journey. Watercolor is the most fun of all painting mediums where you use water as the main element along with the watercolor paint pigments. Come along on this painterly experience and learn the skills needed to create a watercolor painting.

Moreover, Vian Borchert has been invited to judge the annual high school exhibition held at the Yellow Barn Gallery. The exhibition is open to all high school students in the DMV area where they can enter for a chance to be part of this celebrated annual exhibition that showcases & awards young talented artists. Submission is by March 22.

PARKING INFO

Glen Echo Park is located at 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD, 20812 (this is the intersection of Goldsboro Rd and MacArthur Blvd).

From Northern Virginia, take Route 495 to the exit for the Clara Barton Parkway toward Washington, DC. Take the Exit for Glen Echo. Left at the stop sign on MacArthur Blvd. and left into Glen Echo Park. The Yellow Barn is next to the stone tower.

From Rockville, take 270 South to 495 south toward Northern Virginia. Take the exit for Glen Echo and the Clara Barton Parkway. Exit at Glen Echo and proceed to the stop sign on MacArthur Blvd. Take a left into Glen Echo Park.

From Silver Spring, take East West Highway to Bethesda, turn onto Old Georgetown Road then take a left on Wilson Lane. Follow Wilson Lane for a few miles to MacArthur Blvd. Turn Left onto MacArthur Blvd, then turn right into Glen Echo Park's free parking lot.

Using Public Transportation, take Montgomery County Ride-On bus #29 operating daily from the Friendship Heights metro station on the Red Line.
