    The historic Button Farm, home to the Menare Foundation, is Maryland’s only living history center depicting 19th century slave plantation life and the heroic story of the Underground Railroad through our unique living history experiences. Situated on 40-acres inside of Seneca Creek State Park in Germantown, Maryland, we restore and maintain the historic buildings and preserve the cultural landscape as a resource for education, preservation, history and heritage.

    Oil & Pastel Painting Classes Online for adults (16+).  Learn to painting in oil or pastel from an accomplished artist.  Beginner through professional levels welcome. I have been painting for over 30 years.  I focus on still life, florals, figurative, and large bird paintings.  However, I teach all types of subjects including landscape painting.  Students will learn or perfect the principles of painting including:  composition, negative space, value and value relationships, edges, color mixing, brush work and special painting techniques. I am honored to be a copyist at The National Gallery of Art, a juried member of The Maryland Portrait Society and Pastel Society of Maryland.  In addition I am a member of the Portrait Society of America.  My painting awards are numerous and I continue to receive recognition in art shows.  I have been painting professionally for over 30 years.

    The Germantown Historical Society was founded in 1990 and its mission encompasses both historic preservation and education in local history. The Society is actively involved in preserving local historic sites and in presenting local history to the public. It sponsors a fall and a spring lecture on historic topics, and holds a monthly community flea market to raise funds for operating and outreach expenses. It office is located in the historic Germantown Bank, 19320 Mateny Hill Road, across from the train station. This site is also available to rent to small groups.

    KID Museum is an emerging children's museum of the future in the DC area focused on engaging children of all ages in 21st century learning skills that cultivates creativity, curiosity and compassion. Our concept is to create a highly interactive space that focuses on three themes: (1) international culture, (2) science, technology, engineering, math and the arts, and (3) community service. KID Museum’s entrance is behind Davis Library on the lower level.  There is free parking. By Bus Ride On Bus: 47, 6, 96 Metrobus J2 or J3 By Metro Red Line Medical Center is the closest Metro station.  Board the J2 or J3 Metrobus towards Montgomery Mall.

    Recognizing the vital role of history as the cultural and social fabric of a community, Montgomery History - previously known as the Montgomery County Historical Society (MCHS) - seeks to reflect the growth, diversity and vibrancy of Montgomery County. Montgomery County has experienced significant growth over the past several decades, and Montgomery History has grown as well, from an all-volunteer organization with a small membership to a professionally-staffed non-profit with over 1,000 members and over 100 volunteers.

Park facilities and amenities include more than 500 lakes, ponds and stormwater management facilities and devices, 457 miles of streams, 305 tennis courts, 296 athletic fields, 289 playgrounds, 208 basketball courts, 189 miles of paved and natural surface trails, 114 picnic areas, 110 historic structures, 102 campsites, and 31 park activity buildings, as well as nature centers, miniature trains, indoor tennis facilities, boat rental facilities, indoor  ice rinks, event centers, public gardens, and more.

    Montgomery Preservation, Inc. (MPI) is Montgomery County's only county-wide nonprofit historic preservation organization. It was formed from the Montgomery County Committee of the Maryland Historical Trust in the early 1970s. The group incorporated in 1984 to actively encourage and defend preservation efforts in the county and communities.

    The National Capital Trolley Museum, in cooperation with Montgomery County Parks, brings the sights and sounds of the trolley era to visitors of all ages. Experience early 20th century transit as you travel two miles aboard a washington street car, an american trolley, or an european tram. Tour street car hall with a docent. See street cars go to the movies and the rock creek railway model in main hall. Enjoy interactive exhibits, film programs, and the museum shop.
