The historic Button Farm, home to the Menare Foundation, is Maryland’s only living history center depicting 19th century slave plantation life and the heroic story of the Underground Railroad through our unique living history experiences.
Situated on 40-acres inside of Seneca Creek State Park in Germantown, MD, we operate under a long term lease with the State of Maryland Department of Natural Resources through the State Resident-Curatorship Program.

The Button Farm is will be open for the 2016 Season, on Saturdays, 12noon-4pm for June 25-November 5, 2016. Self-guided tours of our farm buildings, museum garden and heritage breed animals are available. Admission is FREE!
Due to ongoing renovations at the farm, weekday hours and school group events are by appointment only during the 2016 season.
